Cenotes - Yucatan

Cenote (say-no-tay) is a term that is only used in Mexico and comes from the May Cenote san word "dzonot," which means "pit" or "sinkhole"; they are wells of fresh water created by erosion of soft and porous limestone, but in the Mayan world they were fountains of life that gave out the vital liquid. Besides being an entrance to the wonders of another world they were a center of communion with the gods.
In the Yucatan Peninsula cenotes are abundant and to dive and explore these fabulous and mysterious cenotes and their hidden rivers is a moving experience which you can only enjoy in this part of the world.
